An interior design dream: An American-style kitchen

Open plan design

A typical American kitchen is spacious and has an open plan design. Dividing elements such as counters or serving hatches are used to separate the kitchen from the living area. A separate dining room is also quite common in the United States. In this villa in Park City, Utah, the kitchen is separated from the living area by a long counter with bar stools. Indispensable: An XXL fridge – this kitchen even has two. Ice maker, microwave, grill, steamer and freezer are part and parcel of every American kitchen.

The cooking island

This is something an American kitchen cannot do without: A cooking island. Since kitchens in the United States are very spacious, great importance is attached to the cooking island. It serves as a room divider and also utilises existing space in the best possible way. This central space in the middle of the kitchen can be used for the preparation of food and also offers space for floor-standing cupboards or for the sink. In addition, the cooking island makes it possible for several people to cook at the same time – making it ideal for large families or for socialising and entertaining.

High-quality materials and design

The worktop is made from high-quality materials, in this example from Florida it is made out of marble. The Victorian-style Clive Christian kitchen is fitted with state-of-the-art appliances, including two Miele dishwashers and a Viking gas stove with six hobs and a grill. The emphasis of a Clive Christian kitchen is on luxury, not minimalism. The British designer typically uses architectural elements such as playful ornamentation – as found on this cooking island – as well as spatial elements such as pillars and even crystal chandeliers. Clive Christian designs his kitchens to be a family meeting point and takes his inspiration from historical monarchic architecture. His trademark: High-quality materials, professional craftsmanship and pure luxury.
