Repulse Bay Gardens

If you’ve made the exciting decision to make Repulse Bay your home in Hong Kong, no doubt you ‘ll be considering which are the best buildings to live in. Well regarded as one of the most upmarket luxury areas on the Island, there are ultra-luxury new apartments to choose from along with well-maintained older style apartments. You will also find a number of townhouses and luxury mansions in the hills surrounding.

Repulse Bay Gardens is a large older style but extremely well-maintained luxury real estate that sits close to the Repulse Bay Beach. It’s a well-known and sought-after complex with 12 towers which were built over a 3-year period in the early 1970’s.  The towers have panoramic views that look out over the beach and Bay and take in the surrounding hillside and mountains.

Each of the 12 towers has a height of 20 floors and each of these floors has only 2 very spacious apartments. The Hong Kong apartments for sale here have an open plan layout with combined kitchen and dining areas and are very bright with plenty of natural daylight and open views. All have good ceiling heights and large sized balconies to take in the views. A few of the apartments have had their balconies enclosed to increase extra internal living space by individual owners. The average apartment size ranges from 1513 to 2576 sq ft and these range from 2 and 3 bedrooms to the larger units with 4 bedrooms with maids’ quarters.

Repulse Bay Gardens completed a major upgrading in 2014 where the exterior of all twelve towers have been retiled. On site facilities include a billiards/snooker room, children's play areas, gymnasium and tennis courts.

The Bay

The area has a very good western style shopping precinct on hand - The Pulse, which includes supermarkets, and many restaurants, shops and cafés and a fitness centre. There are plenty of hiking trails in the mountains behind, trails which can take you from Parkview to Shek O as well as the calming beachside paths for morning and evening leisurely strolls. Repulse Bay has easy access to some of the best international schools from kindergarten, primary to secondary school, and there are excellent medical facilities (hospitals) close by. All in all, these amenities make this a very popular neighbourhood for expats and their families.

On the weekends the beach can be busy with day visitors and those looking to take a dip, particularly in the summer months so the swimmers are protected by shark nets and a daily surf and lifeguard patrol. There are some really popular hangout spots with rooftop pool bars and DJ’s, and a number of starred fine dining to casual restaurants, all of which make Repulse Bay such an exciting suburb to live in.

In the Area

The beach is one of the closest to the Central districts on Hong Kong Island. The commute by car is a mere 20 minutes and if not self-driving, there are a range of minibuses, buses and frequent taxis. In the area is Deep Water Bay with its famous Hong Kong Golf Club and a number of yachting and water sports clubs, such as the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Clubs’ Middle Island. It’s well worth joining up to some of the clubs in the area, increasing the resort style facilities you will have full use of.

Stanley is only a short hop skip and jump away with the larger Plaza shopping centre for full shopping options. There are a number of good restaurants and bars along the Stanley waterfront, and over the hillside you are a convenient distance away from Shouson Hill, Aberdeen and The Peak.
